Horse chestnut seeds contain a mixture of triterpene saponins known as escin. Escin is an active ingredient that has been shown to help with cellulite, sunburn and dilated capillaries by strengthening blood vessel walls. Escin increases the tone of the venous walls while decreasing the fragility and permeability of the capillaries, minimizing leg edema, increasing blood circulation and improving metabolism. Numerous clinical studies have proven the improvement in the symptoms of varicose veins, also known as venous insufficiency in the medical community. It also helps to minimize swelling and speed up the healing of bruises caused by blows, infusions, and injections.

Flavonoids are plant pigments found in the leaves of red vines – they give yellow, red and blue colors to flowers, fruits and, more rarely, leaves. They also protect plants from microbes and insects.

A medical study has shown that red vine leaves improve the micro-circulation of the skin and reduce swelling in the legs. They also help with tired legs and feet. Flavonoids are known as natural tamperers of biological responses “as they have been shown to have the ability to adjust the reactions of organisms to allergens, viruses and carcinogens. They have anti-allergic, anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial and anti-carcinogenic properties.”

👉  Apply a thin layer to the affected areas several times a day.

👉  Do not massage the varicose veins!

Heavy and swollen legs are often the first sign of problems with veins. Swollen feet can be accompanied by tingling and stinging. Restless legs are another common symptom for many people. Some have minor symptoms, while others need medical care.

There are several causes for swelling (edema). Usually swelling occurs more often in older people and in women as part of premenstrual syndrome or in pregnancy. Feet can also swell, if we eat too much salty food (which causes water retention), in summer or if we sit or stand for longer periods. Swollen legs are often accompanied by a feeling of being heavy and tired. The causes of swollen legs are therefore varied: vein diseases, impaired lymphatic drainage, allergies, hormonal disorders, and in some cases symptoms of more serious diseases, such as heart, liver or kidney disease.
